Former History teacher and Deputy Headmaster William Pyke, who’s career at Bournemouth School spanned almost three decades (1987-2014), has published a book which is now available to pre-order. It focuses on the stories of school alumni from WWI.
His research has also contributed new names to the School’s Roll of Honour.
Hi william, I Think that my grandfather, frank Harry calcott WALSH may have attended the Bournemouth School. As he was born 1/1/1890 he may have been an original student at the school. I am also thinking his father Henry Alfred John WALSH may at some time been on the school board. Frank and his father emigrated to Australia in 1909 when he finished school. He enlisted in the Australian Army On 25 aug 1915. His service number was 4945 and he was in the56th infantry Battalion, 14th Brigade, 5 th division.
My questions are did you include any former students that enlisted in other country. Eg Australia and have included Frank in your book? Do you know or have school records that says what years Frank Walsh attended the school?
Thank you any information would be very much appreciated
